Medical Services and Supplies Coverage | 60+ Plan

This benefit covers essential medical services, including emergency care, hospital stays, nursing, and specialized equipment.

Medical Services


  • Ambulance: Transportation to the nearest hospital for adequate treatment.

  • Chronic Care: Provided in a hospital, nursing home, or at home in Canada, reimbursed at 100% for conditions with unlikely improvement or deterioration in the next 12 months.

  • Hospital Accommodation: Covers private room and board for acute, convalescent, or palliative care in Canada.

  • Nursing: Home nursing and private duty nursing by licensed nurses in Canada.

  • Treatment of Injury to Natural Teeth: Coverage for dental treatment following injury within 60 days, with exclusions for orthodontic care and incomplete procedures.


Medical Supplies


  • Diabetic Supplies: Includes flash glucose monitors (up to $250 lifetime), continuous glucose monitors (up to $4,000/year), insulin pumps (with $5,000 every 3 years for replacements).

  • Hearing and Speech Aids: Covers hearing aids (up to $2,000 every 60 months) and speech aids (up to $4,000 every 5 years).

  • Breathing Equipment: Covers oxygen, CPAP machines (one every 5 years), and apnea monitors.

  • Orthopaedic Equipment: Covers braces, foot orthotics (up to $500 per person), casts, and bone stimulators.

  • Prosthetic Equipment: Covers artificial eyes, standard artificial limbs, and external breast prosthesis once a year.

  • Mobility Aids: Includes canes, walkers, wheelchairs (including repairs), patient lifters (up to $2,000 every 5 years), and outdoor wheelchair ramps (up to $2,000 once).

  • Other Medical Supplies: Includes hospital beds, catheters, nerve stimulators, compression hose (up to 2 pairs/year), wigs for chemotherapy patients (up to $500 lifetime), and heart monitors.


Paramedical Services


  • $700 per person, per calendar year for services including acupuncture, chiropractic, kinesiology, massage therapy, naturopathy, osteopathy, physiotherapy, podiatry, and speech therapy.

  • $5,000 combined maximum, per person, per calendar year for counselling, including services from psychologists, social workers, and psychotherapists (including marriage and family therapists, psychoanalysts, and sexologists).


Smoking Cessation


  • $1,500 per calendar year for smoking cessation products.
